Australia is NOT a continent. The continent u r referring to is Oceania

People getting wound up by the particular definitions of a continent makes me laugh.

Continents differ depending on whether you’re talking about geographical or political continents.

    3. If you’re including Greenland as part of North America shouldn’t Iceland be part of North America as well?

Edit: Iceland is on both the Eurasian and North American tectonic plate

I always forget just how big that chunk of European Russia is, 40% the size of Europes Totals landmass

    5. Am I the only one who disagrees with how we label the continents? I mean, the definition of a continent is a continuous landmass separated by a body of water. Europe and Asia don’t look like they’re separated by a body of water to me. And I don’t think the Panama canal counts either. Idk, just a thought. It should be Afro-Eurasia, the Americas, Australia, and Antarctica

Europe becoming more and more irrelevant population-wise as the time goes…

Africa and Asia have over 6,5 billions of inhabitants combined. The Americas combined a bit above 1 billion, and Europe, even receiving so much Immigration as it did in the last 50 years, still stuck at 744 millions…

I get that the legend items are sorted by population size, but it’s very unpleasing to me to not have them next to their associated continent.

This isn’t really a mapporn, you should have atleast made a colour pallete

Why don’t we see pan-asian movements like we have pan-african, pan-european, Latin American..etc
      We would control the world

    11. LupusDeusMagnus on

That’s way overinflated. It’s suspected the Americas just surpassed 1 billion inhabitants, and it’s like 1.02 billion. That map adds 50 million people out of nowhere.

Also; world population review is not a source, it’s a widget based on outdated data on population growth.

I think it’s time we start splitting up Asia into smaller continents based on cultural boundaries.

If the goal is to just bunch up countries in neat little boxes it makes no sense to have a box larger than all others combined.

    13. It should be northa métrica Europe and Asia above, south america Africa and Australia (well Oceania) below. It pisses me off irrationally that there is no positional correspondence

Them’s the breaks I’m afraid New Zealand. Sorry you had to find out this way. r/mapswiththecountryformallyknownasnewzealand

Some places it uses political boundaries, others it doesn’t. Could work with one or the other but both is a mess.

As a suggestion the author should have included „top 25 cities (metro areas)“ to really derail any discussion.

Idk what the fuss is about, I only see 4 continents in this image

    17. And they say the world is overpopulated, I honestly think they mean Asia is

    18. Fabulous_Night_1164 on

You combine Africa, Europe, the Americas, and Oceania together, and you’re still almost 2 billion people short of Asia’s population

God these maps are always so stupid. NZ and PNG aren’t territories of AUS.

    20. Primary_Fox1341 on

When people say Australia is a continent they don’t understand that It only includes what is on it’s continental plate which only includes neighboring islands like New Guinea (Or Papua) and most of the Malay archipelago. New Zealand is not a part of this as it’s not connected in anyway to Australia geographically, so it’s better to say Oceania.
