If it’s true, it really feels like the end of an era. Pelosi’s been one of the most powerful and polarizing figures in Congress for decades — love her or not, her influence on modern Democratic politics is undeniable. It’ll be interesting to see who steps up to fill that kind of political vacuum in California and the party overall.

    2. thank god and i say this as someone who has supported this woman and voted for her in the past.

She’s old saying she’s quitting politics is a weird way to say retiring.

She was the best Speaker of our lifetimes by a wide margin. Thank her for the ACA, Biden’s stimulus package, and for blocking much of Trump’s agenda in his first term. Also led the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell.

She retired as Speaker three years ago. Which some of you seem to have forgotten.

hope she enjoys her retirement after 178 years of dedicated public service

    6. She gets way too much shit from people who aren’t anywhere near as politically knowledgeable as they pretend to be.

      She’s earned her retirement.

Really? She’s such a spring chicken, figured she’d stick around till about 120 at the very least

She’s been promising to retire since 2020.

      I’m not buying it anymore.

    9. Glad to hear it. She may not be the most likable politician (bit of an oxymoron there), but she’s been one of the few driving forces in the Democrat party. I’m happy she’s a Democrat, happy she’s in office, and happy she is the bulldog the party has needed at times. That being said, it’s good to see her retiring while she still has her faculties instead of following the trend of politicians staying in place until they die in office.

Term limits need to be implemented. Yes, even for the politicians who get stuff done. The Founders considered public service a temporary duty, not a career. Alexander Hamilton explicitly warned against having politics become a career. Once it became a career, it stopped being about serving the people and instead became about saying and doing anything you can to stay in your position. Giving in to special interests who could help keep you in office, at the cost of the ones you’re meant to represent.

    10. She did her job. She made Trump’s life harder. That’s all anyone could ask for.

    11. Bye. Thanks for the insider trading protection, performative bullshit, signing off on canceling the 2024 dem primary, and undercutting progressive evolution. Get the fuck on with it.

    12. After profiting metric fuck tons of money insider trading, and spending the last 15 years sabotaging Dems.

Not getting rid of her via primary is a massive stain on the Democrat party.
