SS: The US is once again turning up the heat on Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro — deploying warships in the Caribbean, doubling the bounty on his head to $50 million, and hinting that his “days are numbered.”

Facing growing US pressure, Maduro has reportedly written to Vladimir Putin, pleading for help — from restoring Russian warplanes to boosting Venezuela’s air defenses. But experts say Moscow’s ability to help is limited, with most of Russia’s military resources tied up in the war in Ukraine.

Analysts warn that if Washington pushes for regime change, the Kremlin won’t be able to stop it — though, paradoxically, Putin could still use any U.S. intervention as proof that the West, not Russia, is the „real imperialist.“

Venezuela will not be able to prevent air bombings.
Drones would be effective against a ground invasion, but they would need experienced drone operators.
They could inflict unacceptable casualties on the ground forces, forcing the United States to abandon physical intervention but maintain a complete naval blockade.

The obvious question is what resources Moscow can send when they have pulled out from basically every other theater to throw everything at Ukraine. A small contingent of Wagner soldiers to guard Maduro is nowhere near sufficient.
