    1. I think natives are going to be in for a very bad time when they inevitably stoke a level of populism like the US. This is going to be a terrible time down the line and its going to end badly. Whether or not you agree with anything happening, you start taking people’s homes then you are going to start having people not giving two shits about reconciliation.

      I’m completely Ignorant about this topic but arent a lot of the First Nations in Canada self governing anyways or is this new to BC in particular

      I don’t get the fear-mongering. This region in bc is essentially lived in/owned primarily by First Nations people who are members of this nation. All this does is formalize them as the local government and gives them the resource extraction rights.

    4. What does self governance actually mean?

      For example, here in Ontario, we run into the issue where a city is a creature of the province: such that if your premier wants to mess with the city, they can: the province has the ultimate say, and everyone who lives in the city has to pay your taxes to all 3 levels of government.

      So under self governance, do they still have to pay their provincial and federal taxes? Will laws at the provincial and federal level still apply on their land? Do our courts still have jurisdiction over their land?
