No one outside a handful of tough guy cosplayers in the White House wants this.

    2. Honestly, there is very little that Venezuela could deploy that would negatively impact American military operations. That does not however make military intervention a good or viable option

Edit: spelling, and yes I am talking about air operations there is a carrier strike group underway….
2nd, I am talking about the military aspect not what comes after. Intervention is a horrible idea but you guys need to figure out wtf is going on. Honestly, I was a bit disappointed by the ’no kings protest‘, I expected a bigger turnout. It shows that America is incredibly divided and that the Orange idiot in the White House has a lot of leverage/leeway with the American public.
Sort this shit out before he starts ww3

      Not S-300VM, Buk-M2E

      > Venezuela deploys Buk-M2E air defense missile a major threat to U.S. fighter jets and missiles

    4. Neither the BUK or s-300 systems are a threat to U.S. fighter jets, they’ll be destroyed before any jet that could potentially be susceptible to it arrives.

These are the same Russian systems Iran had when Israel took over their skies in the matter of hours with 0 casualties?

    6. Well, to think of… if US will be able to destroy this russian tech abroad – there will be no objections in other parts of the world 🤔imho. Especially if Maduro will keep demanding military help from russia – will definitely help to get rid of z-pidorz in Ukraine a little

And we all saw how well Russian-made air defense systems worked out for the IRGC…

The US is also the king of SEAD and DEAD. US doctrine relies (probably too heavily these days) on air superiority, so DEAD is one of their most honed and prized capabilities, along with stealth of course.

OTOH, distributing a bunch of highly mobile and relatively independent tactical air defense systems like this is probably their best bet, as opposed to relying on a highly centralized integrated air defense network dependent on a few expensive theater-level strategic air defense systems and critical radars. The IDF showed how vulnerable integrated air defense can be to coordinated surprise attacks.

There is no democracy in Qatar , Saudi Arabia etc These are ruled by monarchs / Dictators but somehow American Government never demands democracy and report card of Human rights from them .

US can literally do anything and justify it by giving any damn reason. No one can hold US accountable.
They have done it for decades .

US wants south America under its thumb along with control over its resources or a share in them just like Middle East .

    9. I think these vs modern US fighters are not as effective as advertised they’ll find.

Plus if they lob one of these towards an US carrier group that’ll score pretty high on the fuck around, find out scale I bet.

    10. BobertRosserton on

BAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I for one am praying we don’t invade or go to war with any country, especially for no reason like Venezuela but these systems are literally Cold War tech lmao. “Threat to modern jets” is like saying a stick thrown at a helicopter is a threat.

    11. killbot0224 on

Why would it be a threat? Why would those planes be in Venezuelan airspace?

      Let’s try something:

„Venezuela has a right to exist!“

„Venezuela is allowed to defend itself!“

Why would anybody be fussed about Venezuelan air defenses…. Unless they wanted to be able to attack Venezuela with minimal risk to their pilots?

    12. US military technology is unmatched. That’s why it’s scary to think of it becoming the new bully of the world.

    13. I know these systems shouldn’t really cause any issues for the US military but this is a pretty incompetent administration and I have to try hard not to be surprised with their fuckups.

I guess „short Boeing and buy Rheinmetal“.

    14. Normal-Ear-5757 on

Only an American would call something that is designed to defend against aerial bombardment a „threat“

    15. Looks like the rest of BRICS is about to find out if relying on Russian equipment was a sound strategy

    16. Sellingbakedpotatoes on

„major threat“ bullshit lmao yeah i’m sure it was a really major threat to US allies for the other countries that operated them, like Russia and Iran. Except nope those „threats“ got fucking steamrolled by US proxies.

Russian air defenses are only major threats to civilian airlines

Fact of the matter is Venezuela can’t do shit if the US decides to invade, which is why it’s really bad if the US actually does do that

    17. What the actual hell is this headline… how is a non hostile, foreign, sovereign country deploying defensive missile systems on their own soil a ‘threat’ to the US? Unless you accept that US planes and missiles are already committed and justified in being in Venezuelan territory… for reasons…

Call out propaganda when you see it.

    18. DarkOmen597 on

Funny how these are being announced after recent flights from Ru to the region

    19. probably a good deterrent but realistically if it ever came down to actual conflict with the US these systems would be priority targets in the first few hours

    20. I almost spit out my coffee.

      >major threat to U.S. fighter jets

LOL! Next up, see Venezuelans ground breaking technology that will allow enemies to see the B-2 Bomber for the first time ever!

And don’t forget their new amazing laser point defense system coupled with dual band phased array radar to protect it! Amazing stuff!

      rofl.

ETA: This is in no way an endorsement of what the US is doing and clearly plans to do down there.

Gzus Christ don’t click on Mr glass cock portfolio. Dafuq was I thinking?

    22. hat_coat_door on

I hate that comments here are arguing about if the Venezuela can defend itself from a US attack. And not why does it need to. We’ve seen so many deaths around the word these past few years for what essentially comes down to ego.

    23. ChaplnGrillSgt on

Well the air defense wouldn’t be a major threat to US aircraft if the US aircraft weren’t blowing up boats and moving carrier groups into striking range.

    24. FrostyCartographer13 on

„Venezuela takes a defensive stance to defend itself the best it can in the face of an unprovoked US military assault due to tensions caused by the US military sinking several civilian vessels in international waters .“ Would be a more appropriate headline.

Those defense systems are no major threat after you take into account US military doctrine. They will be the first in a series of targets hit in order to remove and possible threat to US air personal and assets should the US launch an attack on Venezuela.

    25. MaxMouseOCX on

That’s definitely getting destroyed, one way or another because it’s basically this:

Venezuela: „don’t do it, or else!“

America can either say: „Meh don’t care“ or „BOOM! I did it and you did nothing about it!“

There’s probably a few other choices, but those are the two obvious ones.

    26. Ill-Definition-4506 on

Wouldn’t wanna be the poor dudes operating that thing, they’ll be the first target to go if anything happens lol

    27. So defending your sovereign territory is a threat to US fighter jets. Copy makes sense
