Even Poilievre yesterday when asked on it was non committal on voting against it.

Its going to depend on whats in it for the NDP. Deep down they dont an election.

    2. So the NDP after the serious defeat, still hasn’t learned a thing and are just as gutless as before. Abstention should not be allowed in any scenario. You either agree to an issue or you don’t. Not showing up is a bullshit move.

    3. I honestly don’t think the Liberals are that worried about another election happening this quickly, so long as it happens in a way where the public views the opposition as culpable for it rather than them. If the electorate thinks the opposition forced the election, then they will be punished and the Liberals will be rewarded, likely meaning Carney gets a majority and Poilievre resigns as CPC leader. (which likely means the CPC becomes rudderless & disorganized for a late 2029/early 2030 election and the Liberals sail to an easy victory etc.)

By contrast, the NDP and CPC both have a lot to lose here. The NDP’s coffers aren’t ready for another election yet, they’re likely too disorganized to run a strong campaign and in provinces like BC where vote splitting strengthened the CPC last election, I have a feeling that more of those ABC/non CPC voters are going to back the Liberals this time around (both to stop Poilievre & because the NDP is going to struggle to look visible or viable in a late 2025/early 2026 election etc.)

As for the Conservatives, Poilievre is on thin ice and only has the one shot left. He either has to pull a Harper in 2006 and moderate enough to bring in the centrists he needs to win elections (which I don’t think he has the mailability or political savviness to pull off), or to wait for an opportunity where the Carney Liberals make some sort of massive blunder etc. If they lose this one, the Conservatives will likely be out of power for at least 18-20 years since 2015. (since I imagine that they’ll have an even worse chance of doing well in 2029-2030 if they lose a snap election now).

Basically both the CPC & NPD are in a position where they have to be careful & bide their time.
