Ich wollte meinen irischen Freunden einige kulturelle Ähnlichkeiten mitteilen, die ich zwischen keltischen Halloween-Traditionen und vielen indischen Traditionen beobachtet habe.
Ich verstehe, gruselige Gesichtsmasken, geschnitzte Kürbisse und Lagerfeuer zur Abwehr böser Geister sind ein zentraler Bestandteil der keltischen Tradition.
Ähnliche Traditionen finden sich in indischen Traditionen zur Abwehr böser Geister.

I think India and Ireland are really deeply linked and I’ve always felt that, compared to any other European country

Both are Proto-Indo-European and there is such a large overlap of the Irish Celtic Pantheon and Vedic Indian Mythologies.
We both have Danu, mother goddess, whose name derives from rivers and water, the primordial source of life (flowing fresh water). This also persists in related cultures, think of the Danube.
You have aspects of The Dagda and Vedic Indra, both kings of their tribes, they control weather, are warriors and have massive appetites (because of vitality and abundance).
The Morrigan and Kali are mirrors for each other.
Ogma and Mitra share functions/parallels.
Aengus as the youthful, handsome god of love, poetry and desire. He’s also Kamadeva the Vedic god of love and desire.
We have bone deep shared literal and cultural „blood“, we are both rooted in the same place.
5000 years ago our cultures began in the same society.
It would be strange things didn’t overlap
Likely shared links to Indo-European culture.
