      This just means that in exchange Trump promised to weaken Taiwan’s defenses so they’ll be easier to invade once Trump is gone. China doesn’t care if they invade now or 10 years from now. They’re playing the long game.

      I heavily doubt that Xi said that at all, but if he did, what he probably wanted to say is „I don’t expect you to survive the mid terms.
