So we have three options.
1. Raise Tax (likely GST, we’ve backed down on Capital Gains)
2. Cut OAS
3. ????? Cut hodgepodge of low profile services, ones that likely won’t have short-term visibility.
Option 3 is superficially most appealing, but might not cut it, especially if we plan to triple military spending (I don’t think Canada will follow through on that commitment for the same reason Canada didn’t follow though on it’s climate commitments).
I hear there’s a class of people totally capable of making „sacrifices.“ I wonder if it’s the class I’m thinking of who will bear the brunt.
Paying someone full OAS when they have 150,000 a year retirement income ins a waste the claw back should be moved back to 80,000 with full loss of benefits at 130,000 vs the 183,000

Let be honest the liberals created this and now it is up to Canadians to pay their bill ! It is always the way
Raising taxes in a recession is less than a bright move and at a time where few can afford the extra
This is the inevitable conclusion of consistently spending more money than you have.
Interest servicing costs are now one of the biggest line items on the budget. Personal income taxes are higher than they’ve ever been and we have less money available to fund services.
Capital investment in Canada is horrible and our productivity sucks. And rather than address any of these systemic problems we’ve just imported a bunch of people from the third world that don’t integrate into society but take all of the entry level jobs at slave wages.
Canada is in deep, deep trouble, and this is the legacy of 10 years of Trudeau spending recklessly and believing the government is the solution to every problem.
Given how Carney got rid of the capital gains tax hike a few months back I know a bunch of Canadians who won’t be making a ton of sacrifices
Those tough choices that were made by Harper more than 10 years ago and then reversed by Trudeau and will now be a lot tougher…… We deserve it for being an ignorant electorate that always votes for the politicians that promise not to make tough choices.
