It’s not forbidden. It’s cold and boring. Flatearth dorks don’t even go on these cruises though, bursts their bubble when there’s no „ice wall“ and snow everywhere

Holy shit that sounds like a death cruise. You won’t even want to go on deck.

The places you can go are very controlled and monitored
But yes with a cruise you can go and see penguins etc
Where as where military can go …that’s just for them

It only shows a maritime perspective which is a a coastal or near shore area. I don’t believe in the whole ice wall thing, but there are significant parts of Antarctica no civilian is allowed to visit…that’s not a conspiracy but a fact

Nah my mum went there. Said it was cold, boring and stank of penguins

A very wealthy client I know – now over 90 years old bought an icebreaker back in the 1980s and completely converted it into a luxury ship, just for a single Antarctic expedition with his wife. The whole project cost him around 30 million, and he only did that one trip.
It’s not illegal to go to Antarctica; the journey usually costs at least around 15,000 USD, but at that price, you travel in a very basic, spartan way.

lmao everyone knows the tourist cruises just take you to the „safe“ coastline areas.. no way they’d let regular people near the actual classified spots 🙃.

My mum has been on one of these. She brought me back some rocks and shells (shhhh) and some from the Falklands.

I think you’ll find its only forbidden to go there yourself and freely explore

Antarctica is a big place. Guess how much of it they’ll let you see.

My parents have been on this. The waters are very treacherous and cruise ships can’t go to these regions but there are boats that take people. Granted, it’s not guaranteed they’ll get to get to see the tip due to the weather and waters.

They get permits and it is very limited.

They offer tours I think but you only get to see a very small amount, obviously. I don’t think you can travel on your own at all. There are scientists who live there year round.

It’s very expensive and you’re not guaranteed to see anything. There was a story a year or two ago where everybody was furious because they skipped most of their destinations.

What’s with all these NPCs going on about “the ice wall isn’t there there’s nothing to see”.
No the ice wall isn’t there BUT the public is barred from going into prob 95% of Antarctica
and both cruise ship expeditions and planes flying over are very limited access. What you make of that is dependent on what other knowledge you possess or not.

Wait until they find out you aren’t limited to coastal regions either. Mount Vinson is a popular destination for mountaineers. Just be ready for around -40º.

Why is Antarctica so restricted to travel without permissions?

I think there is a documentary on youtube about someone booking a cruise to Antarctica some years back where it was really shady and the cruise operators ended up not taking the people to the actually land and allow the people to walk around, instead they just sorta drove by it and then went back to port.[scam cruise](https://youtu.be/HkkdKLLfVT8?si=ldooQ8NfMVQ0psDI)
