      I’m 1 of 5 people on the UES who voted for Mamdani. I would go to a watch party over there, but I feel like I’d be with the wrong crowd lol

      Watching Democrats like Cuomo fearmonger and whine about Democrats like Mamdani is something to behold.

      I don’t recall the „New Deal“ Democrats fearmongering anywhere close to the levels like this when the „New Democrats“/“Third Way“ Democrats like Clinton, Gore, and Lieberman pushed them out of the party in the late 80s/early 90s and made the party unquestionably worse, as well as the workers they betrayed.

      Kind of interesting to watch these „New Democrats“, now old in both body and belief, throw a fit when they face irrelevancy from within their own party.

      I hope he wins, and I really hope his policies work. They are completely antithetical to republican (and some democrat) policies. Having them just work would be amazing and spark change in every major city. It would also force change to how the DNC even works.

      If there ever is a socialist uprising in the US (which Mamdani getting elected mayor of NYC certainly is not) it will be because the “free market” (read: crony) capitalists have caused so much desperation among the working class that they have no other choice than to revolt.

      Capitalists are choosing to drive people to become anti-capitalist. They’re just too greedy to recognize it.

      So crazy to watch the fascist machinations in real time attacking political opponents. Like the Mayor of NY has some kind of superhero power the could supersede the presidency.

      I hope he wins and is successful so people don’t think socialism is just soldiers goose stepping through a red square. I don’t think people will ever understand economics to actually debate it nationally unfortunately.

      I really don’t care what the GOP thinks, but the fact that they believe Socialism is somehow WORSE than Fascism/Autocracy/Dictatorship should say enough about their alignment to not trust a damn thing they say.

      Pretty incredible how much I’ve seen a galvanized, and evil movement coalesce to stop Mamdani when no such energy exists for Trump.

      You mean running two right wing corporatist candidates with the backing of the GOP wasn’t enough to sway one of the most left wing cities in the country to the right? You mean having a serial rapist billionaire with the backing of both GOP and DNC major donors and politicians run specifically to subvert the will of the people who already told him he shouldn’t be mayor was an unpopular choice? You mean have a charming, attractive young leftist who’s willing to criticize israel and the DNC establishment and who refuses to back down from solidly left wing positions, who refuses to pander to the right is a popular move that invigorates voters and guarantees Democratic victory?!?!?

      Fuck I can’t wait for the DNC to learn nothing from this and run a Newsom-Cheney ticket in 2028.
