    1. News snippet: GENEVA (AP) — The U.N. human rights chief said Friday that U.S. military strikes against boats in the Caribbean Sea and eastern Pacific Ocean allegedly carrying illegal drugs from South America are “unacceptable” and must stop.

The U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk called for an investigation into the strikes, in what appeared to mark the first such condemnation of its kind from a United Nations organization.

Ravina Shamdasani, a spokeswoman for Türk’s office, relayed his message on Friday at a regular U.N. briefing: “These attacks and their mounting human cost are unacceptable. The U.S. must halt such attacks and take all measures necessary to prevent the extrajudicial killing of people aboard these boats.”

She said Türk believed “airstrikes by the United States of America on boats in the Caribbean and in the Pacific violate international human rights law.”

UN should Simply declare about those who use failed War On Drugs – terrorism. Problem solved.

    3. What if instead of, or in addition to, drugs, the boats are carrying human trafficking victims?

The US policy seems to be like “throw things at the wall and see what sticks”, while the UN policy seems like “you can’t do that, here’s a strongly stated statement”

UN advising water is wet to a dehydrated people has been going on for years. They like **Anonymous** have made themselves obsolete by telling us what we know and then doing nothing about it.

One of the pages in Russia’s psychological warfare playbook is to do something for the sake of making someone protest, wait for them to protest- (especially “allies”) then do it again immediately, and on a larger scale just in case anyone held any false pretenses of being *willing* to stop them.

    7. Given the UN’s excellent track record in the effective policing of it’s member nations I’m sure they will bring an end to this injustice at once.

I don’t know how anyone is allowing a strike to happen like this in international waters, it’s effing crazy.

The UN’s gambit to stop these killings with the paper-cuts from when they deliver their statements is a bold one let’s see if it pays off.

Another strongly worded letter will be on its way in the next six months, I’m sure

Pete Hegseth (and all those who blindly follow criminal orders) WILL face capital punishment for these crimes.

    12. And what does the UN plan to do about it? Condemn with “strong words”?

The older I get the dumber I feel that grew up believing the UN actually achieved something. Did absolutely nothing for Ukraine or Palesttine in recent memory.

Leave a comment if the UN has actually done any active peacekeeping.

    13. ROFLOL – and what, you going to write a mean letter?

The UN has no teeth and no balls.

    14. And what when you are ignored? Use stronger words like „very unacceptable“?

Let’s be honest here. UN has less power than a toddler crying on the floor of walmart demanding a cheap chinese toy.
