It is sad that even holidays have become so globalized and homogenous. There is no uniqueness anymore. Remember when Halloween was a religious holiday? No it is all about greed, gluttony, over consumption. Where is the sacredness, the simplicity, the holiness?

Here in my country, there’s a halloween celebration where everyone is basically dressed up as saints

    3. So… just the UK, the USA, and Canada?

Or am I missing other orange nations on the map?

I feel like it must be so weird to celebrate Halloween in the springtime in the southern hemisphere.

    5. This lines up identically with countries that have multiple bands that receive regular airplay on classic rock stations.

It’s fascinating that Australia, a country home to millions of people of Irish and Scottish descent doesn’t really do Halloween. I mean I get the Southern Hemisphere seasons and all it is just interesting.

    7. In Brasil, we celebrate „Saci day“ (the one leg pipe smoking dude of our folklore) on the same day. But because of the usa softpower, we are forgetting our roots, and now the children are used to celebrating Halloween.

Some Finns celebrate Halloween nowadays, including me. There’s always Halloween decor and candy being sold even if trick or treating is still pretty rare.

It is certainly mildly popular in chile. This map does not seem well researched.

Halloween is absolutely well-known and celebrated at least by the younger generations here in Austria, so the map is wrong at least on that.

Australia and NZ don’t do all out Halloween? How did they manage to miss out while the rest of the Anglosphere does it?

    16. „I wonder why so many people on the edge of Norway celebrate i- that’s their border and I’m an idiot…“

    17. I’d give it a limited celebration in Denmark too.

My whole area puts up decorations and gives out candy. Some family members, and their area, do the same on the other side of the country. So something is certainly happening.
