      >House Speaker Mike Johnson admitted Thursday that feeding the hungry would mess up his political game.

      >CNN host Dana Bash asked Johnson why he wouldn’t consider moving money around to fund the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, which will stop receiving federal funds at the start of November. The House speaker accidentally revealed Republicans are using the program as leverage to end the government shutdown.

      >“Because if you deviate from the goal of reopening the entire government, Chuck Schumer and the radicals over there will continue to play games with people’s paychecks, their livelihoods,” Johnson said. “And if you do just part of this, it will reduce pressure for them to do all of it, to do their basic job, and that is reopen the government.”

      >It seems clear that Democrats aren’t the ones playing games with people’s livelihoods, but instead it is Republicans who are holding SNAP benefits hostage from 42 million Americans in order to make the opposition bend. And SNAP is a hostage Republicans are more than willing to kill—they’ve already voted to gut nearly $300 billion from the program through 2034.

Pointing out the obvious: Kids use those benefits. He is willing to harm children.

    3. Did he say that the rich elite like to keep poor people poor to further their own capitalistic gains, by giving us peasant just enough in slave labor wages to almost be able to feed themselves without government assistance but not quite enough so not only are we working 50+ hours a week making them richer we also are still dependent on the government

We don’t give Nazis what they want and would rather suffer on our own terms.

The most direct translation of what Johnson said:

„We’re keeping the government closed and increasing harm until the democrats give us what we want.“

Donate to your local food banks, folks. Republicans have the ability to fund SNAP, but are more than willing to let your fellow countryman starve so they can gut our safety nets. Things are going to get ugly now that Democrats are taking the GOP’s mask off.

    7. PFAS_All_Star on

Because how can we claim democrats are starving children if we let them feed children?

    8. Johnson , trump and the GOP are the ones playing games with peoples lives just to control the entire government and screw the people that they are elected to represent. Mikey go back to watching porn with your stepson monitoring you, you sick perverted pedophile scumbag

    9. Mike Johnson is keeping Congress on a taxpayer funded paid leave until republicans get what they want, and what they want is not for the good of the people they were elected to represent.

That’s the only sentence any media outlet needs to report, day in and day out. Stop printing lies and innuendo and outright propaganda. I’m so sick of it.

    10. Additionally, I think he may believe Trump is the literal Anti-Christ and is boosting him to bring about the „End of Times“ and return of The Christ. It is the reason the evangelicals support Israel.

    11. In other words… Americans will have to go hungry because Democrats won’t let us take their healthcare away.

So, Democrats are „playing games with people’s paychecks“? But Republicans somehow aren’t „playing games“ with Healthcare?

Well, if there’s one consistent trait, embarrassment is only an option if you’re capable of shame. Hypocrisy weaponized.

    13. Paraphraseing, „If you just feed poor people, it will take the pressure off of democrats.“

      This is the Republican’s America.

They have the house, senate, and presidency.

They withhold food from desperate Americans until they get to take away healthcare for the poorest Americans.

They call themselves Christians but Jesus was pretty clear about his stance on stuff like this.

The merchants also rely on EBT funds. I cant believe Wal-Mart hasn’t gone nuclear over the shutdown at this point.

    16. From the article:

“The House speaker accidentally revealed Republicans are using the program as leverage to end the government shutdown.

It seems clear that Democrats aren’t the ones playing games with people’s livelihoods, but instead it is Republicans who are holding SNAP benefits hostage from 42 million Americans in order to make the opposition bend.”

This is exactly what I’ve been saying.

There is existing law that says that during a government shutdown snap is to continued to be funded by the emergency reserve that was established for it under law, and the agency (the executive branch) is ignoring that law. It is not up to Mike or the congress, it is up to the agency to follow the law and fund snap from the emergency fund and they are not.

The Speaker of the House is singlehandedly preventing speech and debate by keeping the House in recess. The government can not re-open until he ends the recess. Mike Johnson is the person preventing a resolution. Democrats have nothing to do with that whatsoever.

Mike Johnson is an anti-American tyrant-sycophant evil son of a bitch who is intentionally going to starve millions of Americans to try to force the opposing party to capitulate and let him and his American Fascist Party strip healthcare from millions of Americans instead, all while keeping the government shut down and refusing to seat a Democrat Representative so he can protect a pedophile convicted-felon President.

I mean, there are still a few ways left to be even *less* American and *more* evil… but he’s using them up.

The majority of white people who voted on November 5th, 2024: ‚We love Trump. He’s exactly the role model we voted for. Thanks for staying home and making excuses not to vote. The cruelty to LGBTQ and non-white people is exactly what motivated us, and its promises were kept! We’re ten months in, and there’s at least three plus more years of this.‘

*Among those who voted, 60% of white men and 53% of white women supported a racist, fascist, sexist pedophile.*
