What does Billboard measure? Spotify Hot 100’s top 40 seems more relevant.

What was the first rap song back in the top 40 back in 1990? Snap? Ice Cube? Salt N Pepa?

Great, so they changed it so we churn through songs more quickly. Fuckers.

Not to be redundant in the comments but there’s A LOT of bad music (especially rap) out there now.

They did just changed the methodology so I’m sure that’s contributing to this. Or to mention Taylor swifts fans are probably keeping every song from her new album in the top 40.

Rap doesn’t seem to have an edge to it anymore, like gangster rap had in the 90’s.
Probably the nature of the world we live in now. Less people involved in, or willing to rap about their involvement in gangs and gang culture.
