Ich habe dies zusammen mit einigen anderen älteren Briefen gefunden. Kann jemand eine Übersetzung bereitstellen? Ich habe vor ein paar Tagen auf „Übersetzer“ gepostet und mir wurde gesagt, dass es sich um Estnisch handelt, aber ich konnte bisher keine Übersetzung bekommen.

Dear Toivo!
How do you live and how are you? I’m doing pretty well. I go to school here. It’s a bit difficult with the German language, but it’s alright. My grade sheet was also pretty good. Do you also go to school?
How did you spend Christmas? For me they went well. Santa brought quite a few things. Just that it was a bit boring. There was no snow on the ground either. But didn’t have to wait for it long. On 31st there was 6 cm of snow. It’s really fun to ride a sleigh here! Much more fun than in Pärnu. Here it’s very hilly. Tall mountains all around. Geisa is in itself on top of a small mountain. Here you can whoosh down the slopes all day long. It’s just too bad that I don’t have my own sleigh or skis. My [girl] friend has a sleigh, but no skis.
I’m ending my letter with this. Many, many greetings to dad, mom and all Härmands(?) from me, dad and mom. If you can, write to me about your own life and whether there in the camp there are others that I know. I’m sending you my address. Be well!

Dear friend Toivo
I wish you a happy New Year. I’m living here for 3 1/2 months already and I go to school – it’s going pretty well. I have many friends, but all of them are Germans. One is an Estonian who is living here 3 years already and has pretty much forgotten Estonian language. As you can tell, I’m missing real friends. I’m exchanging letters with Enn Elbing who lives in Berlin. Enn’s father is currently sick and dying.
My dad is working at the bank again, 2 hour’s ride from Geisa and comes to see us every Sunday. Lea is going to Latin school and is learning English besides everything else. We live in a hotel and get fed well because the owner is a butcher. Surroundings of Geisa are very beautiful. Is it also beautiful where you are? I’d still like to get back to Pärnu. With greetings to you and all Estonians, your friend.

Kuidas sa elad ja kuidas su käsi käib? Minul läheb päris hästi. Käin siin koolis. Saksa keelega natuke raskusi on aga küll läheb! Tunnistus oli ka päris hea. Kas sa ka koolis käid?
Kuidas sa jõule ka veetsid? Minul läksid päris hästi. Jõuluvana tõi päris palju asju. Ainult natuke igavad olid. See oli kah, et lund ei olnud maas. Kuid seda ei tulnud ka kaua oodata. Kolmekümne esimesel oli kuue sentimeetri paksune lumi maas. No, on siin aga tore kelgutada! Hurdla toredam kui Pärnus! Siin on väga mägine. Ümberringi on mäekõrged mäed. Geisa on ise väikese mäe otsas! Siin võib päevad otsa mäest alla vihiseda! See on ainult kahju, et mul omal kelku ega suuski ei ole. Mu sõbrannal on kelk küll aga suuski ei ole.
Lõpetan siis sellega enda kirja. Palju, palju tervist isale, emale ja kõigi Haavakividele minult ja isa, emalt. Kui sa saad siis kirjuta mulle omast elust ja kas seal laagris veel mõni minu tuttav on. Saadan sulle oma aadressi. Ela siis hästi!
