What are we trying to achieve with these posts? Whether they’re an asylum seeker, otherwise illegal migrant, legal migrant or citizen… sexual assault is a problem

People who are refused asylum only have a 30% chance of being deported years after the decision. Even after 10 years the majority of people aren’t deported.
Labour have increased that but I still don’t think it’s back to the level before 2015, when the numbers collapsed. And even the pre 2015 system was inadequate.
Even when the deportation number were high, the UK still had the largest illegal population in Europe, according to numerous studies (see for example the EU funded Mirrem study). Estimates at that time were the illegal population was between 500k and 1.2 million. After sky high levels of migration (net migration from 300k to 900k) and a ten year collapse in deportation numbers, the illegal population is likely much higher now.
