      2 paragraph article that boils down to: „Some funding for some things are expiring in the next 3 years, maybe he’ll cut those? 🤷‍♂️“

      Doing so would alienate the majority of NDP supporters who voted Liberal in the last election and more or less ensure a CPC victory in the next election when this minority falls, which would likely be accelerated by doing this.

      I really hope Carney and the PMO are far more nuanced in their decision making. If they want to tighten public spending, fine. Trim some fat here or there if it yields juicy and lean policy. A large segment of voters probably won’t bat an eye if they understand the reasoning and still get a juicy piece of steak in the end.

      But lowering the quality of life of people just to save a buck, will produce lower quality cuts of meat. When voters are expecting steak, they won’t settle for ground beef. If you’re going to make cuts, the tradeoff needs to be worth their while.
