The money is used to buy weapons from arms smugglers and other ethnic militias. Chin State borders Rakhine State, which is home to the Arakan Army. The other areas, Magway and Sagaing Regions, also border Bago Region, Kachin State, and Shan State. Many of the weapons are smuggled from those places via Magway and Sagaing. Of course, many weapons are captured from the junta.
