    1. Excellent. He is probably one of the best leaders the democrats have had in a few years.

If they’re dumb enough to do that, we’ll take it. Lol. Mamdani would absolutely eviscerate the GOP.

We’re witnessing, once again, one of the news media’s most frustrating behaviors: because they work in New York City, all New York politics is national politics. Mamdani hasn’t run a nationalized campaign (the opposite, in fact. His campaign has been hyper-local), and isn’t trying to take the damn party over. If he were mayor apparent for literally any other city in the country, even the other megacities like LA or Chicago, we wouldn’t be having this extreme a discussion on it.

Republicans can try to make him the face of the party, but outside of Staten Island and the Hamptons, nobody who is even *remotely* close to being a swing voter is going to give a shit about what happens in NYC.

A young, attractive populist who wants to make people’s lives tangibly better? As the face of the party? Oh no! Anything but that!

Republicans. „Democrats are dangerous!“ Also Republicans: getting scared of a guy whose wildest ambition is… affordable housing

Does the Democratic Party have to pay Republicans for this or is it a free service they’re offering? Either way, thanks.

Idiots are trying to make Mamdani the face of Democrats while making Vance the face of Republicans. It’s like 2 favors at the same time.

One is a guy who wants to tax the rich and corporations 2-4% more to feed hungry children, the other is a rapist pedophile

This is probably a bad idea. No matter what you think of his policies he’s charismatic. You want to make the unlikable people the face of the opposition, not the fun guys.

    9. It’s funny how the donor class within the party are the only ones clutching their pearls and threatening to leave, as though they’re not the fucking reason we keep losing

Oh god, an attractive, young, charismatic, policy focused, active, diverse man!!! Oh the horror!!!

Aren’t the progressives also trying to make him „the face of the Democratic party“? They keep telling us that’s what they want.

I would love it if he was the face of the party. This is the direction the democrats should have been taking the entire time, more especially in response to Trumpism.

Oh wait? Am I supposed to hate Mamdani for the color of his skin or his religion? Is this what you are pushing Republicans?

Sorry. I’ll judge him as an individual. For now, I see a well-spoken , educated person who, as far as politicians go, seems to not be very corrupt.

Now, if he starts to become corrupt and evil and starts to lower the QoL of the people whom he represents, then I will dislike him.

    14. Mamdani is a representative in state government.

He has no federal position and is not seeking one.

That the GOP are elevating his national profile for free is really funny.

    15. Oh no, please don’t lump us in with the charismatic young person who currently has a 95% chance (according to prediction markets) to be the next mayor of the largest and most diverse city in the US /s
