There will never be an end to war in the Middle East. We may as well accept that and move on. But be prepared for anything.

funniest joke I’ve heard today, I’d counter recognize the Golan as Israel and let the Druze in Daara and Suweida vote on what/if their future will be in Syria. And make sure all the pogroms of Druze cease.

Sorry, but generally the loser of a war doesnt make territorial demands.

    4. Give an offshoot of ISIS control of territory that allows them to strike your entire country from the high ground….what could go wrong.

And what about the local Druze population? After what Syria has done to their neighbouring Druze people, I highly doubt they are clamoring to be part of Syria.

And I’d like a million dollars if we are listing off things we want that we are never gonna get.

„Well golly gee, lets just hand that strategically vital land that’s perfect for launching artillery into Israel right back, in exchange for nothing.“

      – Political genius, supposedly.

    7. Best part of the article: “Four Security Council members—Algeria, Somalia, Sierra Leone and Guyana—joined the Syrian demand…”

What a joke of an organization.

    8. The only way that would happen is if Syria was in political lock step with everything Israel wanted and then they had a giant economic partnership.

Economic power is the only power that matters in these times.

    9. Should have done it in the 70s and worked out a similar deal like Egypt and Sinai, but too many Israelis have settled at this point.

    10. And the Byzantines demand the return of Constantinople. Any day day. Just have patience.

Always seems to end with Israel getting a piece of land. Fancy that.

    12. I can see mutual agreement to have a demilitarized Golan, but there’s no way Israel lets Syria control it ever again. Anyway Israel has had it longer than Syria at this point, so why it considered “Syrian” anyway?

Lol sure, why not … Israel should absolutely hand over 25,000 Druze civilians to this regime, what could go wrong

    14. > The current campaign was initiated by Syria’s envoy to the United Nations, Ibrahim Olabi, in an aggressive speech to the UN Security Council on Friday. Olabi accused Israel of instigating military incidents, violating the post-Yom Kippur War disengagement agreement, and infringing on Syria’s sovereignty. He called on the UN and the Security Council to take „decisive“ action against Israeli operations on Syrian territory.

      > Olabi went further, declaring that „Israeli authorities must withdraw their forces from Syrian territory, including the occupied Golan Heights, as well as from areas recently invaded, and refrain from interfering in Syria’s internal affairs. The Golan will remain Arab and Syrian and will never be subject to compromise or concession.

Makes me wonder if he was just going to talk about the recent buffer zone and mount hermon occupation. But went offscript.

    15. Debate about Gaza and the West Bank, but there’s no chance Israel is giving up the Golan Heights

    16. When Syria is a stable democracy for 15 years, then Israel should consider.

For a country trying to now normalize relations with Israel, Syria sure as hell is intent on complicating that.

After massacring minorities they are lucky they are still in charge

    19. There is not going to be significant political will in Israel to sacrifice security considerations for „peace“ for generations.

And anyone with a hint of objectivity about the situation can’t blame them one bit.
