It’s almost like the rich and powerful have something to hide and be afraid of…..

    2. Because he’s a „democratic socialist“ when realistically people don’t understand what it is. Programs like Medicare, medicaid, social security, etc. are socialism lol.

Because he isn’t part of the established political machines that have been running things for decades. We need more candidates like this across the country.

    4. Upper middle class white people…who are not rich by any means !!!….will have the burden of much higher property taxes…based on skin color….The rich aren’t worried about this guy….they can higher the best accountants to avoid paying any additional tax increases

They aren’t look to every major city like NYC, Paris , London. They all have mayors like that. The technocracy is being hidden by socialism. It’s not the kind you think. Think digital ids, constant surveillance, social credit scores. They hate you and they will make you behave, especially if you want to be in the city for work.

He wants to actually help his common man, He’s young in comparison, same story with Bernie Sanders. Anyone who comes and wants the unite folks is a problem for this establishment

    7. There are many reasons, actually, however here’s a place to start: „Freeze the rent“ will not solve any housing issues; it will, in fact, only make the housing situation worse. Freeze the rent, and landlords (e.g. owners of the property) will not be able to pay their maintenance costs. Because as maintenance costs go up, they can’t raise rent to keep up with those costs, so no one will do upkeep on their properties or will be willing to build new residential real estate. Who would invest in a new building when you know off the bat you’re not going to make any money? That is the ONLY reason people build new real estate. All the so called purveyors of socialism think the reason it didn’t work before was because it wasn’t done right. They were all wrong. Look at Venezuela. Look at Russia. Look at China. Socialism doesn’t work. The only thing that works is free market capitalism. It’s not perfect, but it’s the best thing there is that allows for individual choice.

I disagree whole heartedly with his politics but his real sin is not blindly supporting Israel. You are clearly allowed to run as a socialist in this country, that isn’t it.

    9. Imagine if you were a Jew, and 25 years after the Holocaust a guy with an SS tattoo says, don’t worry, elect me.

That’s some NYers problem with him.

Just swap out 9/11 and global intifada.

    10. Extremely weak socialist who has zero political experience being in charge of 8.5 million people of New York City. He is an engine for far left donors to get what they want through lobbying. I’m not an expert on New York City politics but what I’ve seen from him is just basically Robinhood tax laws with zero plan besides dumping money without fixing the mental health problems these homeless people usually have.

    11. The jewish community along with the entrenched money community are largely the ones fueling this and they’re using a strong and shameful Islamophobic narrative to try and knock him out. They’re pulling out all their old tried and true tricks – and they’re failing. They’re calling up all their tried and true „analysts“, media companies, influencers, talking heads etc – and they’re failing. They’re throwing money against him – and failing.

It’s incredible to watch the once all-powerful jewish lobby fall from grace virtually everywhere in America. People are waking tf up and it’s glorious to see. They’re LOSING, and not just losing but what’s even more valuable and important in the long term: THEY ARE EXPOSING THEMSELVES.

That lobby is quickly becoming persona non grata in politics. It gives me hope. It’s the best development in politics i’ve seen in decades. This is something that should unite right and left. **They. Are. Losing!!!**

One? He doesn’t have the skill set to handle worst case scenarios, such as 9.11…two? His reduced rent promises reek of Pied Piper style.

Cuomo CAN handle all of the job of managing NYC… from national security to ribbon cutting and helping all NYers. I never believed the skirt chasing news about him, but even if it’s true? Those days are long over….

    14. RazorsInTheNight82 on

They’re scared of him showing his policies work…because they do work.

This looks suspiciously similar to the polls before the last Canadian election… sorry… but i smell bullshit.

There’s a lot of points made in the comments.

Mamdani gives a lot of high hopes and big promises but almost all of his policies aren’t explained other than allocating taxes or taxing the rich. That seems to be his only solution.

And his online posts about defunding the police doesn’t seem to help make people feel safe in nyc

He also has little to no actual work experience which can be a concern for many

    17. NefariousEscapade on

Because he’s a socialist? That’s grounds enough. Second he’s incompetent and has literally done nothing in his life. He’s talking head and a shit person. He doesn’t even understand what he can and can’t do as a mayor. NYC is fucked

    18. He said he wouldn’t visit israel when he’s elected, and he will stay in the city and work on making it better.

He was the only candidate who said he wouldn’t give israel my money. He won my vote just for that.

    19. It does not matter who wins tbh. Mandani is either controlled opposition or he’ll be blackmailed into submission like many others. It simply does not matter

Cause they’re racists who buy into ridiculous propoganda and think of themselves as better than muslims or brown people in general 🙄

Think about it. NYC is arguably one of the most culturally influential, and is factually one of the largest cities, in the country, and by a lot. So you have Trump and his billionaire friends pushing hard against liberal and left wing values and pretending like they have a “mandate” to do so but now you have someone like Mamdani as the front runner for mayor of NYC? That kind of shatters the illusion a bit.

And what are the implications there? What does that mean for Trump and right wingers supposed “mandate” over the country? The assertions that we all have been hearing since the election that MAGA has definitively won the culture war and “the left” is totally finished?

What would an absolute upset by someone like Mamdani in Trump’s home city (one of those most culturally relevant cities) mean for his popularity and apparent stronghold on our culture and society?

What would it mean for the rest of the country if Mamdani won in a landslide and was (at least) moderately successful in passing and implementing policy that actually helps people instead of giving them tiny scraps and platitudes like they’re used to? They all claim his policies will be a complete disaster, but what if they’re not?

They’re terrified of a revitalization of the American people, American cities, and American culture. They’re terrified of a politician who doesn’t play their game and who will accelerate policies that they have been desperately trying to hinder and delay. Mamdani’s messaging and attitude runs completely counter to everything they have been working so hard at ingraining in our culture and political system.

And of course, not to mention, NYC has long been home to the largest Jewish American population. Outside of Israel, NYC has the largest Jewish population of anywhere else in the entire world.

What does it reveal about the truth of everyday Americans’ opinion of Israel if someone like Mamdani (a Muslim, non Zionist, young politician, openly critical of Israel) can become mayor of NYC? What about if a majority of Jewish NYC citizens vote for him?

It’s a complete and utter existential crises for Zionist corporate billionaires who have been playing “both sides” successfully for years and years. It’s actually crazy to think about the potential impact on the country. There’s a reason this election has been so talked about and why so many billionaires are dishing out money in a feeble attempt to beat Mamdani.

    23. DrStevenPoop on

Because his policies will make NYC worse. And when his polices fail, the people that voted for him won’t blame him for it, they will just blame Republicans, who have no control over NYC, and then demand that the federal government pay for it.
