How would it be a mistake from the women’s side? There is absolutely no excuse. This minister should be ashamed of himself. What if it was his daughter or wife?

This is same guy who has problem with people kissing their sisters (forehead, cheeks etc) and said.

„Today’s opposition leader kisses his sister in public. This is the impact of foreign culture, while in our tradition, people do not even drink water at their sister’s home.“

    3. No you’re right mate, it *is* a mistake for women’s sporting sides to be playing in India, if this is the reaction of the government after women players are molested.

Time to strip the BCCI of the rights to host games then, hey?

I know people will decry what he said as victim blaming but I think what he said is actually sensible. He’s acknowledging it’s unsafe, they had security for a reason, but they left that security without telling anyone. Im prepared to be downvoted but people need some street smarts abroad, unfortunately especially women.

    5. Wow not surprised at all. Should see/read his public comments about kissing family members in public…

What a freaking prick, it’s systemic if someone from the govt can say shit like this and not be dragged over the coals for it.

    7. Welcome to India. Where you can get gang taped and it’s still your fault somehow.

Victim-blaming in a case like this isn’t just tone-deaf — it’s dangerous. When a public official says it’s “partly the victims’ fault,” they’re not just excusing a crime… they’re reinforcing the culture that allows it to keep happening. Two women came to a country to play the sport they love. Instead of protecting them, or at the very least standing with them, the response is: *“They should’ve been more careful.”* That’s how responsibility quietly gets shifted from the system that failed… to the people who were hurt. This isn’t about one night in Indore. It’s about how many times women hear this exact line all over the world — every time someone chooses to defend their own image instead of facing the truth. When those in power talk like this, they tell every victim that speaking up might not matter. And that should make everyone furious.

    9. Well, what do you expect from a guy that has several pending criminal cases on him, including insulting modesty of a woman and inciting religious disharmony.

It’s because he’s in BJP that he’s not already behind bars.

Oh , the old “ good people on both sides “ argument…
That used to be about racists , now about rapists .

Yeah, sounds like their mistake was to believe they would be treated with respect and the people they would interact with had honour.

    12. Australian and Indian govts should make this guy apologise publicly and shame him.

And make him take back his hateful words.

Why does he hate women so much? 🧐

    13. That hair sent me to Google image search. This guy looks like someone told an Indian kid to make an image of political corruption out of Play-Doh.

Their first mistake would be not carrying their cricket bats when they’re out in public.
