I assure you they do not believe anything this buffoon says and have their own plans which will circumvent America any way possible. Then again its not like they are paying these tariffs to begin with.

He’s talking out of both sides of his mouth.
He doesn’t know what’s happening. He just there to be a distraction figurehead.
He’s also too much of a coward to directly confront people in the same room as him.

Art of the Deal:
1) Undo/break every agreement your predecessor(s) had put in place.
2) Declare new, illogical, and ineffective policies based on your misunderstandings of…everything.
3) Blame everyone else when shit blows up.
4) Reestablish the same policies as your predecessor, take full credit, claim victory.
I can’t tell what he is trying to assure them of. They can be assured of a few things, such as Trump will only look out for himself, and he will be changing his mind soon (again), and they can’t trust anything he says.
