Diese Käfige stammen aus dem Jahr 1536 und dienten zur Ausstellung der Leichen von drei Täuferführern, die nach der Niederschlagung des Münsteraner Aufstands, einem Versuch, eine Theokratie zu errichten, gefoltert und hingerichtet wurden. Die Leichen blieben etwa 50 Jahre lang in den Käfigen, als Warnung für zukünftige Rebellen.

      Yeah. Pretty normal back then. Whenever you walk over a cute old market square in Europe its weird to think it has probably been used for untold amount of executions. including the horrifying ones like breaking on the wheel.
