    1. Does it also include parents that grew up as only childs? Because then. I would understand if they found having a larger family weird.

    2. A little funny way of wording a title so just to provide some context:

      About half (49.3%) of Japanese households with children have 1 child, and the other half (50.7%) have 2 or more. This article (or at least the title) highlights the half of households with 1 child.

      The cost of raising a child mentioned in the article seems a little on the low end TBH. The nursery alone will cost 40,000 JPY per month.
