I disagree with this action. While Maplehurst needs held accountable for the actions of it’s guards. These 3 should not be going free because if them

How pathetic that this judge didn’t even bother to make sure that their reasons would be made publicly accessible.

Absolutely abhorrent decision from the judge. Alternative remedy: bail, civil suit, criminal charges, censures and recommendations of further funding for these institutions.
In fact the judge literally made the argument in his decision that one of the reasons he stayed the charges was because he couldn’t grant a sentencing reduction (because 25 years no parole is the minimum for first degree murder).
This is not the clearest of case for a charge of first degree murder and attempted murder. The conclusion was not foregone.
The decision contributes to the already eroding loss of faith in the administration of justice and the actions of judicial officials has long contributed to it.
Isn’t this go against Geneva convention? I say, if we don’t want prosecuted jail guards let international court charge them.
