If we’re lucky? Things like lowering the income ceiling for those receiving OAS to a more realistic level. If you make over 100k you don’t need it.
Realistically? The most vulnerable and those with the least services already are about to suffer even more. Especially where provincial governments have totally abdicated responsibility.

Maybe you and your multimillionaire friends could make some sacrifices for the rest of the country. Seems fair since you have more money than you could spend in several lifetimes and we don’t.
He made these comments while talking about expanding non-US trade and minimizing our reliance on the US… It’s pretty obvious what he’s referring to.

Honestly he needs to cut OAS from seniors that make over 100k. We also need to raise the retirement age. This is being done in Europe as it’s unsustainable. Even though I’m a conservative I will praise Carney a ton for this if he does it. Otherwise he’s gunna have to cut a ton of federal workers because he said a bunch of the Trudeau welfare programs and the provincial transfers will be untouched so it doesn’t leave much left to cut.

It will be things that make the middle class even worse off. It always is. Social mobility in Canada has been on a steep downward trend for the last ten years.
Yes. There must be sacrifices made during tough times.
Can we start with:
1. C level execs sacrificing a percentage of their multi million dollar compensation.
Stop outsourcing jobs to cheaper locations- and stop taking the bonus they are getting due to the cost savings they have achieved.
2. Government should stop giving subsidies and tax breaks to private enterprises and instead funnel that money into public infra like healthcare, education, transit etc. This also results in job creation.
3. We as a society must work as if we are all in a start up. Hungry for success while maintaining our Canadian values of humility, honesty and simplicity.

People are suffering and we need some concrete action, now. Not in 10 years.
I’m a single parent. I work 14h 6 days a week and I can still barely afford rent and food. My hot water has been shut off for a month and I’m always behind on my bills. I’ve been sacrificing. I can’t sacrifice anymore.
