What is the total „donations“ that trump is getting these days and what are the „donors“ getting in return.
Between the new air force one , ball room, inauguration funds, and now the pentagon . People must be getting one hell of a return that they can donate hundreds of millions .

A quick google shows there are 1.3 million active duty members of the military, across all branches, currently. We’ll pretend that all $130MM of that will go to military pay and none to any overhead/bloat/grift. That’s $100 per active member.
So just like everything that the Trump administration says and does, this is all show and no substance.

Ok, we’ve just crossed the line from a public military to a private one.
Nice. So I can expect Musk to start his own legal military here in the US as well. Maybe the Amazon and Microsoft militaries too. Nice. Nothing out of the ordinary here.

One doesn’t approach such extraordinary measures if they plan to negotiate. He’s going to keep the shutdown going until he gets emergency authority.
If you recall, he/they were floating this scenario back in December ’24 before the handoff.

There are about 1.3 million active duty military personnel. $100 each will definitely help them out.

Under 31 U.S.C. § 1321, the federal government maintains “trust funds” and “special funds” that can accept gifts or donations for specific purposes authorized by Congress. However, federal agencies cannot accept donations unless Congress has specifically given them authority to do so.
3. Restrictions
Donations cannot create a conflict of interest or be given in exchange for preferential treatment.
Agencies must follow ethical and appropriations laws (e.g., the Anti-Deficiency Act).
Typically, donations go into specific trust accounts and can only be used for the authorized purpose.
