Yes. Democrats stand your ground.
Schumer at least seems *aware* of the giant pile of doo-doo he stepped by siding with Republicans earlier this year and the very real threat that he will be primaried by someone popular like AOC if he gets on his knees and pulls out his false teeth a *second* time.
That or he has a highly paid team of image consultants trying to find a way to spin capitulation that does not splatter him when it hits the fan.
Only time will tell.

How is what the republicans are doing any different? They could relent just as easily. If they are serious about dealing with the subsidies, what difference does it make whether it’s before or after the CR is passed? Their entrenched position indicates they don’t intend to extend the subsidies, which only gives the democrats more incentive to hold out.
For what? they don’t need Democrat votes they have enough votes, if only the Republicans would work together they could restart the government. But the Republicans don’t.. they love that the government has shut down. This is a bullshit non-story.

They need to hold through November at least so all of us on the ACA can see the real time play out of losing the subsidies. One thing Americans absolute will respond to is immediate financial pain. Agreeing to anything beyond then is agreeing to allow Republicans to completely ignore this. They have no plan to do anything about this.

I feel awful for people that are going to lose benefits but part of me thinks that this shutdown is showing his base firsthand why he’s the worst president we’ve ever had. They’re starving while he’s going to file a sham lawsuit to give himself $230 million. People are losing health coverage and he’s destroying the White House to build a $300 million dollar vanity project. He’s screwing over ranchers to prop up Argentina who’s MAGA like policies didn’t work. It’s so tone deaf and stupid.

Our country was founded off the ideals of a taxation with representation. We have taxation with no representation currently, are preamble starts with we the people. The social contract and we the people has been broken, It is time to renegotiate.

Good. Let this be as painful as possible. It needs to be so painful that Americans remember in 3 years. It needs to be painful enough to show voters that Republicans are not only incapable of government but are actually dangerous to their lives. It needs to be painful enough to show anyone that thinks voting doesn’t matter or that both sides are the same that who gets elected actually matters.
People have to learn this lesson and they aren’t going to learn if things continue along smoothly, even if it’s a smooth slide into chaos. There needs to be an abrupt shock to their systems like not having food assistance available during Thanksgiving and fucking up their Christmas budget so that the trauma sticks.

As a federal employee, what really pisses me off is this is a damn CR. What the Dems need to do is start working on an actual budget with their demands built in and say pass this and will open the government back up.
