I’m calling BS on Southern Arizona. Tucson has some miserably hot days. It’s 90 degrees at night some nights! I wouldn’t call 115 degrees in the summer comfortable weather.

High end temp should be 80 instead of 85

While the temperatures on the map maybe broadly accurate. ’comfortable’ is a subjective term. That fact alone renders this title irrelevant, quite aside from the misspelling.

I grew up in the Piedmont region of NC. Lol at this map. Summer was soggy heat death. Winter was bleh.

FYI, anybody can go to that website and plug in their weather preferences. My map is for 60-86° F highs, <60° F dewpoints, and cloud cover <40%.
The only bit of red on my map is between Santa Barbara and San Louis Obispo, California. Most of the rest of coastal California is yellow. There’s no other yellow on the map. Other decent choices would be Tuscon, Marfa, Raton, Silver City, Durango, and…unexpectedly, Albany, GA.
I have only ever in my adult life lived in places that I apparently find miserable. What does Houston have in common with Buffalo? Zero acceptable days. That’s what.

Is rain factored into this? Because that’s what makes Portland and Seattle undesirable despite them looking similar to the US south in terms of weather on this map.

Now factor in wind and rain

Interesting bit of red in western NM, Quemado area I guess.

Bold choice with the color scheme here, I guess I live in the nuclear zombie outbreak zone AKA nice weather

There Aint no way whoever made this ever looked at southern Louisiana tempatures for like most of the year walking outside every day immediately drenched and not even from my own sweat

Without including dew point this map is useless. An 80 degree day with 70% humidity is hell.
Give me a bright bluebird winter day when it’s 27 and dry and that’s very comfortable to me.

40 degrees is comfortable if you wear long sleeves. At least it is to anyone who lives north of Tennessee

The Albuquerque area is probably closer to California. I’m not sure if it’s too cold at night to make the full qualification?

People saying cold temperatures are better ignore the fact that more people die from cold each year than heat in the United States. So if you have to pick an extreme it seems warmer is the better choice objectively or at least statistically.

As a native and currently living in North Carolina and do not agree with your definition of “comfortable.” That humidity is a beyatch. It is NOT pleasant, not pleasant at all.
