“ Aid groups and advocacy organizations that work to protect women—and who usually would want this made public—didn’t want to speak, with many saying they didn’t want to divert attention away from the harm Israel was causing in Gaza“

Of course, the narrative that that the same nation which withdrew from Gaza decades ago then went back after they were attacked by Gaza’s government isn’t preferred.

UN linked employees and aid workers sexually exploiting vulnerable people in a war/disaster zone?? I would’ve never thought employees of such a perfect, honourable organization would ever do such a thing.

Imagine betraying Palestinian women so you could continue blaming Israel.

Peeps, I got news for you: you succeeded. Everyone hates and blames Israel. You could _try_ to actually help Palestinians.

B-b-but that would involve nuance! And truth! And understanding that people on both sides of this conflict are capable of terrible things!

The religion that encourages minor girls to get married is doing sexual exploitation? There’s no way this is happening /s

I for one am surprised that the perfect and unbiased aid groups in the region who have direct ties to extremist groups and leadership has been found out to be, GASP, not very good people! WOW!

I suspect that there has never been a time when there was a large population in distress that there were not those who exploited the situation for a host of reasons, including coerced rape for sexual gratification.

    7. This goes against the narrative, so it will get way less upvotes than the popular anti-Israel narrative.

    8. The aid groups blame israel for the war…which hamas started. why do they always forget about the second half of that statement. This war has been an absolute catastrophe and many of israel’s actions are inexcusable, but to abdicate any responsibility for hamas is reprehensible.

    9. And this news goes on to be buried by every outlet because they can’t frame Israel for it.

      News without Israel… Boring 🙄

    10. Let’s see how many people read the headline without reading the article and blindly assume that this was done by Israel.

Impossible. The UN has a faultless record in these kinds of conditions, right?

      *Oh wait…*

    13. OP’s post references an award for this article: [https://apnews.com/article/gaza-sexual-exploitation-women-aid-israel-war-44c9daf14f2888d43cd05562b7d24a10](https://apnews.com/article/gaza-sexual-exploitation-women-aid-israel-war-44c9daf14f2888d43cd05562b7d24a10)

In that article, among other things, the AP says:

      >Israel also accuses Hamas of siphoning off aid — without providing evidence of widespread diversion — and blames U.N. agencies for failing to deliver food it has allowed in. The U.N denies there is widespread aid diversion.

Meanwhile, the UN’s *own data that they have released publicly* shows almost 90% of their aid is stolen.

From May 19 to August 22, UN270 reports that 4,659 trucks carrying aid entered Gaza. Of these, 4,107 trucks were “intercepted” – stolen.
