Rn, the EU is primarily a vehicle for neoliberal politics, managing the status quo. Until the EU is completely revamped, I see no reason to support further integration.

I think that the good thing about EU is that it in fact is not a single country. It can work very well the way it is right now, we just need good politicians in place to make the good decisions.

No mention of migration as a challenge yet there is a mention of demographics as a challenge. I have a feeling where this is going…
Putting aside any personal judgement on whether this would be a good or a bad thing in principle, it’s very obvious that it would be a monumental task for very bright minds to even IMAGINE a political system that can promise to work despite the language barriers and strong national identities of the member states, while convincing them to relinquish further power to an above-national level AND simultaneously covering all the potential issues that became awfully apparent across the pond AND in the existing EU framework.
To spell it out: The existence of members with disproportional voting/veto power which are ALREADY prime targets for hostile internal and external actors to jeopardize the entire system through targeted corruption and exploiting the electorate through the disinformation age we live in.
These countries have little reason to AGREE to giving up their disproportionate power, even if they’re not currently already political tumors like Hungary.
Never gonna happen. Just look at what parties are gaining all across Europe. It’s the exact opposite side of the spectrum.
The overal idea I am not against, but no way we call it the United States of Europe… We are not the USA (thank god)

Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t this just a collection of federalist groups doing exactly what they always do and advocate for a federal EU?
Maybe a confederation of European states would fit better?

Federally United Consortium of Kindred European Regions
For it work the federal government needs to have very limited well described power. Foreign affairs, interstate trade and military. Most of the issues, including taxation, social issues, local law needs to be decided locally.
There is no chance though because authoritarians on both sides want to shove their version of one best country down everyone’s throat. Politicians already win elections using anti integration slogans which doesn’t stop out of touch EU government to push even harder. It’s not going to work if you don’t respect countries right to self govern and make decisions for themselves.

The issue really is that the EU is undemocratic and no one votes for them at the highest level (European Parliment has no real power)
So every EU citizen would need a vote and a key question should always be ‘how did you obtain your office? Who voted for you and can we vote you out?’
Until that happens, its just a gravy train for unelected officials, lobbyists and vested interests and completely unsuited for any form of federalism or overarched sovereignty.
A Latin name would be cool (although impractical), Foederatio Europa etc.
It’s actually pretty random (and admittedly nonsense), but I’d like to see the language used more.
