Gedanken?

I said the poles were reversing back in high school twenty years ago when I heard about it back then.

But since then I’ve been told it wouldn’t be much of a big deal. I forget why.

spot over the South Atlantic is known as the [South Atlantic Anomaly ](https://www.businessinsider.com/weak-spot-magnetic-field-growing-could-harm-satellites-2020-8). it isnt new, its been around for about 200 years (as far back as weve been able to track the magnetic field around us) its gotten bigger and smaller over the last few centuries, this isnt even its largest, its shrank by 8% since 1970.

the sun eruption you posted as well is disingenuous, [as it erupted last night and totally missed us, as will its next eruption](https://earthsky.org/sun/sun-news-activity-solar-flare-cme-aurora-updates/) we can track these things. not just governments, but private citizen astronomers.

the sun is currently in its unstable phase of the [25th Solar Cycle](https://appel.nasa.gov/2024/10/30/solar-cycle-25-reaches-maximum/#:~:text=Solar%20Cycle%2025%E2%80%94by%20far,hundreds%20of%20spots%20at%20once.) this is normal, every 11 years the sun completes a „cycle“ where its magnetic field switches. we are currently near the solar maximum, when the sun reaches its most unstable as the poles flip. this will continue until 2030ish, when it will enter a solar minimum, where its extremely stable.

all of this is science settled almost 200 years ago. Solar Cycles were first theorized in the 16th century, but Heinrich Schwabe proved them by watching the sun, fucking DAILY, for 17 years. By 1843, he realized the data basically repeated every 11 years. he then spent another decade watching the sun to prove it.

(there are modern arguments that Schwabe was on the spectrum. he was kind of a fucking asshole to be around, and just wanted to stare at the sun all day)

Yes I really do and I think people need to wake up and stop being stupid because I think reality is about to slap everyone in the face really hard

    4. Short answer is yes, between now and 40 years from now. YouTube space weather news and Theres a bunch of videos about this.

The solar flare was on the farside of the sun and from preliminary data some are saying it could have given us a KP8 to KP8+ solar storm. May 10th and 11th 2024 gave us KP9s, which is on a logarithmic scale and at least an order of magnitude greater.

Whoever gave you that picture of the coronal hole cropped out the date at the bottom of the image. Its from our SDO satellites and they have been stuck on the same freeze frame since early September. The satellites are fine, but from what I heard it has something to do with issues processing the data? We still have GOES giving us plenty of data though. Below are some up to date images

The south Atlantic anomaly is weird and it seems to coincide with the magnetic North pole moving towards Siberia and I would be more concerned but in the following paper oceanographers took magnetic samples from sediment in the north Atlantic and a lake in northern Canada show pole movements for the past 2000 years. Its pretty wild and not really out of the ordinary.

Not trying to „well ackshully“ anyone. I look into this stuff for the sake of my own anxiety. I don’t think we are going through a pole flip or magentic excursion, at least not yet. Regardless, the earth and or sun doesn’t have to do much at all to send us back to the iron age and I wish more people were aware of that. We could then make our civilization far more resilient than it is and focus on exploring inner and outer space, but alas, here we are…

Our Magnetic shield is weakening due to the ongoing, every 6000 year, magnetic pole excursion (this is different to the magnetic pole flip which happens every couple 100thousand years)

Our magnetic field is down roughly 30% since 1859, the weakening isn’t linear though, its speeding up. Its weakened by 10% in just the last 10 years.

There is a tipping point, and when we hit that no one really knows what will happen. Almost certainly we will have a catastrophic failure of our electrical transmission grid, world wide. Some go as far as to say that the mantle will unlock causing massive tsunamis and volcanic eruptions.

There is even a theory (and a pretty well researched one) that says this is caused by the galactic current sheet, and that there is historic evidence to support that our sun will go through a micronova event, fuck knows what happens then.

Yes this is a big deal, yes more people should know about it. Yes, you should be prepping

Really? That is your scientific source? Sounds very professional!

On a serious note what is a legit faraday cage to protect electronics?

    9. One thing is for sure, they won’t tell us about it. We are basically overdue for a carrington level event, what happened in 1859. It would end a lot of live within days to a week. I just watched a great podcast with that Ben guy from Suspicious 0bservers as a guest talking about this stuff. Say what you will about him or his shady practices, but what he’s talking about does hold significance and is true.

    10. Maybe? People have been trying to prdict this to happen for the last 20 years or so. Last major solar flare happeneded about a century ago but throughout history has happened many times. Guess time will tell.

Earth’s angular momentum is enormous, and there’s no plausible natural mechanism to cause a sudden axial flip. The only thing that could do that would be a massive impactor (like a Mars-sized object), which hasn’t happened in billions of years.
