I always find it interesting the difference between regions.

Japan and Taiwan are for it while South Korea and China are against it.

Vietnam, Thailand, and Cambodia are for it while Malaysia and Indonesia are against it.

Southeast Asia makes sense with Malaysia and Indonesia being Muslim whereas the others are Buddhist majority but why is there such a difference in East Asia?

Also I wonder if Mexico will surpass the US in terms of acceptance. Because now there are several US states where more than 50% of the people there are against same sex marriage. In West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and North Dakota if they voted on same sex marriage today it would not pass there.

Why are Romania & Bulgaria even in EU? This map shows they should leave and join CIS

Surprised that it’s that low for the Philippines, they look more progressive than that

Awful colour scheme, dark blue looks the same as dark red.

How are people so bad at making these?

The bluer countries are wealthier and better places to live by almost every metric.

Thank God I wasn’t born in a shithole country, for all the west’s failings, I’m glad I was born on the right side.

I get to live a longer, freer, happier life.

Venezuela more in favour than Colombia? If that’s how it is why are they the other way round when it comes to the law?

What a shame that Brazil it’s in the same level as India and Poland (very conservative countries with a very strict and tiny LGBTQ+ scene).

Ironically brazilian laws are among the most advanced in the world when it comes to protect and support LGBTQ+ population, but at the same time it had a growth of conservative population due to widespread of Righ Wing parties and this wave of conservative values

    8. I believe that in countries where the majority supports and the majority doen’t, society itself has answered the question of what is best for it. In other countries, there is more tension in society.

    9. Chile is the only country in South America were I’ve never seen jokes about gay or trans people, never been in Uruguay but I assume they’re the same since they have so many progressive laws already in place.

Idk but this still somewhat feels high for india, most people doesn’t really care about who’s marrying who irl but opinion wise a lot of them would go with the traditional way, tho that’s being said, percentage wise it’ll always be higher than most of the neighbours.

    11. It’s weird the Andine countries and centroamerica are so red. you’d expect them to be similar to their neighbors, or have a couple standout cases, but they almost seem like homophobic blocks lol

    12. This map is pretty misleading. In Ecuador for example gay marriage is legal. In my personal experience people seem more supportive than many areas of the US

When did it get so high in Japan? I thought they were still pretty traditional about that stuff

    14. What’s the source for Norway? I can’t find any recent polls, and I guess I just find it quite hard to believe Norway isn’t 80%+.

In most of the unlabelled countries, asking the question might get you bee-hedded.

Im surprised support is lower in Canada than France. My husband and i live in Montréal and visited Paris and the French Riviera last summer. We are very confortable holding hands and kissing in public and in Montréal we totally feel people don’t care, we feel normal. In France, we definitely had more looks and faces from people feeling kind of uneasy with the situation to the point we talked about it and noted we felt we were weird to them.

I cannot speak for the situation in the rest of Canada so i dunno if Québec is significantly more open to gays. But Québec vs France, we feel its way more accepted here.

    18. In Russia supporting gay marriage could be considered terrorism. Polling is meaningless if one of the answers is “yes, I don’t mind risking prison”.

I’m surprised Japan is as dark blue as it is given how conservative I know their government to be.

Im surprised the Philippines isn’t higher – the vast majority of people from there are pretty gay friendly

I would have thought Argentina would be a couple of shades darker, not that light blue
