John Rustad is over. The soil was fertilized with the shotgun wedding between the remnants of the BC Liberal Party, which is actually right of center, and the „deplorables,“ or the cacophony of populist rubble rousers, who were particularly ignited by the pandemic vaccine requirements.
The BC conservatives are losing member MLAs every month.
I give John 2 weeks.
Rustad and his party are at their knees. If I were Eby I would call a snap election to entrench a supermajority for the NDP. John Horgan had the political acumen to do that. But I wouldn’t hold my breath when it comes to Eby.

The BC Liberals annihilated themselves in what was probably the biggest political suicide in Canada’s history (that I’m aware of) and the only thing that remains after the self-implosion is this grease stain „Conservative Party of BC“ that is full to the brim with the worst candidates. Conspiracy nutjobs, racists, bigots, looney-tunes airheads, and abject narcissists.
Thank God they didn’t get elected!

At least not directly, but undermining the leader like this could have a similar effect.
My mind is immediately making comparisons to how Justin Trudeau hung on so long in the face of party dislike. However, since he was the PM, his caucus gained real benefit by not getting too out of line. Rustad doesn’t have anything similar, so if he doesn’t leave, I can see him getting pushed, and it making a right mess of the BC Conservatives.
