>In rehab there was a strict set of rules everyone had to adhere to, who you can’t talk to, where you’re allowed to be, what type of music you’re not allowed to sing, which words you’re not allowed to say, and a long list of other things you can’t due. The penalty system used time as a unit, you forget your pen at church that’s a day of consequences, you swear or blasphemy that’s a week. Most kids had anywhere from a week to a month or two of consequences which they’d serve.
>He was expelled after stabbing someone with a large piece of glass and sent to a juvenile detention center after I left the rehab, I honestly doubt he’s doing much better. His parents have given up on him and stopped calling him during his weekly ten minute calls, one of the residents sued him for assault and he has a criminal record
>While inpatient in the abuse based cult (called a rehab) I was allowed a weekly phone call but if I said anything bad about the institution or asked my parents for help my phone call privileges were revoked (which was my only contact to the outer world) Now after leaving and explaining what happened my parents and I are close and pay for my trauma therapy.
>>what kind of abuse did you face? and did your family not do any background checks before signing you up?
>>>I was made to do manual labor for hours, be screamed at for anything , manipulated , had my rights violated (wasn’t allowed to speak at times , not allowed to eat,use the bathroom or go anywhere in private, humiliated , made to suppress my sexuality , made to stay an extra year by telling my parents I “wanted to”, strip searched, woken up at anytime of the night to clean or made to run up hills as punishment and many others were physically assaulted. I couldn’t tell my parents because all phone calls were monitored and anything negative I said would cause severe punishment. The staff would tell my parents I was just “manipulative” like most TTI they appear amazing online but once you get there it is simply child, verbal and severe emotional abuse. Many people I’ve spoken to have PTSD from this.
>Did they deny basic needs as punishment (food, sleep, clothing, heat, water, etc.)?
>>Yes. We were woken up at any time of the night for “boot camp” which was making all of us run up hills for about an hour because we were “misbehaving”, we weren’t allowed to use the bathroom during certain times so people wer their pants, clothes got taken away and people were left with two outfits which they had to wash daily, shoes were taken if they thought you were trying to run away (a lot did) and at times we weren’t allowed to speak at all, call our family or see our “therapists” (they were unqualified and simply “graduated the programme) as punishment
>What kind of “rewards” did they give you for good behavior?
>> We got some of our basic right back.

>I was also sedated to be sent to healing wings, I complained of feeling sick, I was doing no contact with my mom to make a point then I see her taking my phone(keep in mind I had heard of HW before, then they say they given me meds to make me feel better and then im drowsy, the social worker comes in and tells me where im going I could do nothing about it, I was still walking and talking so they sedated me another time and then another time again still basically awake, put in an ambulance and arrived at healing wings for the worst and most traumatic 18 months of my life
