      Off topic of nurses, but it’s kinda always boggled my mind that people can’t totally negotiate their own schedules.

      I’ve always wondered why we need to adhere to such rigid schedules as we do in society.

      Let’s say you have an individual who, for whatever reason, wants to work at a commissionaires job, from 6pm-10pm, it seems like giving that option, and gaining an extra employee would be more beneficial to a company, than not having that extra individual, if the hours aren’t enticing.

      The problem with staffing agencies is that they take a very big cut. It costs something like 5x as much to hire an agency nurse than a public nurse in Ontario. The reason Ontario hospitals hire agency nurses is because we had a decade where the provincial government made it illegal to give public nurses raises, so instead all the public nurses quit and hospitals pay 5x more for an agency nurse.
