      >Thirteen Senate Democrats voted alongside Republicans Tuesday to instate a conservative judge to the Northern District of Alabama.

      >The Senate voted 66-32 in favor of confirming Harold “Hal” Mooty III as a U.S. district judge. Donald Trump nominated Mooty last month, and his confirmation needed a simple majority in the Senate.

      >…

      >Mooty will join a growing faction of federal judges who have symbolically pledged their allegiance to Trump. During a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing in September, Mooty made his ideological stances known by refusing to provide a direct answer as to who won the 2020 election.

      >“Our system of government determines who won an election to the Office of President of the United States by who is certified as the winner based on the electoral college vote,” Mooty said at the time, when pressed on the issue. “This process resulted in Joe Biden serving as the 46th President of the United States.”

      >He similarly skirted answering questions pertaining to the Capitol riots on January 6, repeatedly claiming that it “would not be appropriate” to answer such inquiries as a judicial nominee.” However, his response wavered on the perspective of January 6 in the national recollection.

      Ah. So, Congress is shutdown, but there’s still time to seat more Trump-loving right-wing judges?

      The Democrats that voted in favor include:

      * Senators Chris Coons (Delaware)
      * Dick Durbin (Illinois)
      * John Fetterman (Pennsylvania)
      * Maggie Hassan (New Hampshire)
      * Martin Heinrich (New Mexico)
      * Tim Kaine (Virginia)
      * Mark Kelly (Arizona)
      * Amy Klobuchar (Minnesota)
      * Jack Reed (Rhode Island)
      * Adam Schiff (California)
      * Jeanne Shaheen (New Hampshire)
      * Peter Welch (Vermont)
      * Sheldon Whitehouse (Rhode Island)

    4. Frankly I have no issues with the Senate conducting business during a shutdown (at least they’re in session and holding votes unlike the House). But this should be an automatic disqualifier for a judicial appointment:

      I’m not typically one to cry out that “this is why Democrats lose elections…”

      However, with bullshit like this, well….

    6. Took a sigh of relief, for some reason I expected Slotkin (MI-D, my Senator) to be on the list.

      These Senators are the reason why I believe the Democratic Party needs an enema. None of these career politicians should feel safe this upcoming election cycle

      Jesus Christ! Why?

      Yes, I can get why Fetterman would, but don’t these other people know that if Fetterman votes for it, it’s bad? How many Trump appointed federal judges overturning precedent and the constitution will it take before anyone realizes they are one more placement to break this Democracy?

      The call is coming from inside the house.

      do they think this will somehow help them when they need Republican support? It never fucking does. This is why we need to primary all these DiNO mother fuckers.

      Dem politicians do shit like this and then bitch about voters staying home.

      Fun fact, by a unique qualifier of the law, Members of Congress still get their biweekly paychecks during a shut down. They should all be working.

      What the eff is wrong with you! He’s literally destroying The White House, and posting videos shitting on Americans while building his own military?!?!?!? STOP HELPING HIM

    12. 7thRuleOfAcquisition on

      STOP COLLOBORATING WITH THE FUCKING FASCISTS

      god damn the democrats cannot get this through their fucking heads

    13. Fucking hopeless. Not a single Democrat should be voting for ANYTHING the Repuglicans put forward. PERIOD.

    14. anxiousbarista on

      Sending a big fuck you to John Fetterman. Hope you’ve enjoyed your run in the Senate, PA will not make the mistake of electing you again.

    15. Pristine_Ability_203 on

      Democrats should reflect and ask “what would Mitch McConnell do?“

    16. What’s the point of the Democratic party at this point? It’s like they are more concerned with maintaining a status quo that was blown up in 2010. We really need a systematic change that sunsets both parties to save the country. It’s like the Republicans are going batshit crazy to consolidate power and the Democrats are boxing out anyone else who could change this country for the better…. For „We The People“.

    17. spinachandturkey on

      Ok so vote out those democrats? Tired of these weak mf that put up a dog and pony show about how bad a nominee is only to vote them in anyway.

      Primary every fucking Democrat on this list WITH ALACRITY:

      > Senators Chris Coons (Delaware)

      >Dick Durbin (Illinois)

      >John Fetterman (Pennsylvania)

      >Maggie Hassan (New Hampshire)

      >Martin Heinrich (New Mexico)

      >Jeanne Shaheen (New Hampshire)

      >Peter Welch (Vermont)

      >Sheldon Whitehouse (Rhode Island)

      These people are willing to defile the Judiciary with these MAGA judges who would overthrow our democracy itself if given the opportunity. DO NOT FORGET.

    19. Senate Democrats will vote to advance a Republican nominee while the house Republicans refuse to seat a duly elected Democrat? Way to keep up pressure, no wonder Democrats always lose, even with more voters.

    20. LieutJimDangle on

      just remember most dems are just republicans. the majority of the party are center/center right neo libs, pro israel and frankly have no problem with what trump is doing. the dem party is not progressive in any way, aside from a few outliers.

    21. Clutch55555 on

      Yeah fuck that. Not until Johnson swears in the new congresswoman.

      WTF. ZERO FIGHT

    22. IrrelevantLeprechaun on

      Shit like this is why I’m convinced that even IF fair elections are ever allowed to be a thing, Dems will just lose again. Idk how democrats think anyone is going to vote for them when they’re half complicit with everything their opponent does (especially when that opponent is *raging fascism*)

      We are so completely cooked.

    23. cheesetombatta on

      Just wrote Klobuchar a strongly worded email. I didn’t vote for her to assist a fascist takeover. I’m seething.

    24. Traditional_Sign4941 on

      Contacted my senators. Unacceptable.

      Republicans are in power now because they refuse to compromise. They bully, bully, bully and don’t give a single solitary inch. The age of compromise is over.

      Time for democrats who will do the same.

    25. Think_Bluebird_4804 on

      These useless democratic reps standing idly by or assisting fascists. Vote these traitors out too.
