Interesting tidbit the article fails to include about a recent survey about Canadian Jews political opinions, but about 50% of Canadian Jews reject calling themselves Zionists. The article including a quote from a rabbi CIJA supporting suggesting that the CIJA represents the position of nearly every Canadian Jewish person is highly misleading, since the entire purpose of the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs is to promote Zionist ideology.
Edit: also for whatever editorial reason, the Star also never thought it was relevant to include any links to the report they mention in the headline. They instead to op to include critics that hadn’t even read the report, and were comfortable with providing links to claims made by the CIJA.
So here’s the report that the Star felt like nobody would need to read, with authors who were willing to put their name on the record, and the Star never sought to for comment.

I had to read that headline four times to figure out what the object of the sentence was. „Co-authors“ would have been clearer.
I hadn’t heard of the Jewish Faculty Network before. Their [steering committee]( https://www.jewishfaculty.ca/about-jfn) seems pretty concentrated in Ontario.
Rabbi Scher is simply identified in the article as a pulpit rabbi in Ottawa, which made me wonder how and why they chose him to approach for comment, but a little digging reveals he’s an officer of the Orthodox Union’s rabbinical body.
This is basically the thesis statement of [the report](https://www.jewishfaculty.ca/static/pdfs/cija-report.pdf) and what the CIJA people are so mad about:

Politicians, school boards, law enforcement and others need to understand who it is they rely upon to speak about antisemitism and whether these groups uphold basic principles of antiracism.
That statement is entirely reasonable and people arguing that all Jewish people hold the same views about zionism and Israel are in fact being antisemeitic.

Can they point at any polls commissioned by groups that aren’t explicitly zionist and have ‚Israel“ in their name?
Newsflash, polls commissioned by the dairy council say everyone loves milk. The point of this report is to question the legitimacy of mainstream conflation of zionism and Jewish identity, the opinions of dedicated zionist organizations can be assumed.
