They are stupid if there was not money paid upfront. Also, what a security breach here, so many opportunities to do unsavory things with effects in the future.

I’ve been building things my whole life, which includes demolition sometimes. These guys are insane. They didn’t shore up the building at all, and left the window sashes behind? It just seems so odd, and the opening they made seems extremely crude. None of the rebar or structural beams have been cut carefully at all, you can see it right there in the picture.

Good, because screw them. Did they submit the plans for review/oversight? Did they get a permit? Hell, contractors are required to put up screening to obscure demolition in busy or congested areas. They dont care. They shamelessly participated in an act of cultural and political vandalism. ETA: Who owns this company? Have the owners and workers passed security clearances?

Even if you ignore all the issues with it being a historical building, a federal building, etc, even if it was a shack – the demolition of even a simple building in the area requires a permit which they did not get. Also, the building has lead and asbestos in it, no remediation was done, the workers have no masks or respiratory equipment, and the carcinogenic dust cloud was not contained. This company should be fined millions of dollars, shut down, and the owners convicted and sent to prison.
One of the reviews claims the company didn’t get the proper permits for the demolition… wonder if thats true.
And they believe they will be paid. Any contractor involved in our loss of history has bought all pain they receive upon themselves by bidding on this.
