Am I understanding this correctly? He called the vote himself to appear virtuous and assuming people would support him. They had to suspend the vote because of the threats made which were apparently by his supporters. Yet he lost in a landslide, so now he’s disputing that too.

Geeze, does he realise he should just shuffle off at this stage? Or is he determined to do as much reputational damage as possible before the inevitable

Honestly the obsession with this guy is getting pretty creepy and racist. Literally who cares? These student politics people are all wankers, how can every detail of a student union election be front page news?

This is Oxford, we all know they’re going to larp as radicals until it’s time to get a job, then they’ll bend the knee and go off to earn millions at some consulting firm. I don’t see why this dude and his dreadlocks should be treated any differently to all the other feckless trustafarians.

He comes across as slightly entitled and narcissistic. Just accept you messed up, move on with your life and learn from your mistakes.

    5. Sunken cost fallacy, just admit you fucked up with your comments and get on with your life.

Can we please move on from pretending that student politics matter even slightly.

He’s pulling a Trump! Say the result was rigged and insist you’re still the rightful president 😄

Maybe expel him along with the racist chanting student . No place for this type of hatred in our universities

There’s a lot of doublethink with student politics and attitude to student politics.

He should’ve just pulled the „my comments are free speech“ angle instead.

    10. Fantastic news. I’ve learned recently that Abaraonye debated Kirk at the Oxford Union. So to relish in his assassination makes it even worse after he’s shaken his hand and seen him in the flesh. A real lowlife.

Ok it was slightly funny to see Jacob Rees Moggs and half of the House of Lords walking in to vote the other day.

    12. I’d joke that this is precisely as messy as you’d expect student politics in the social media age to be, but calling a VONC in yourself and then contesting the result when you lose is a particularly hilarious fuck up

It’s a shame to see oxford’s reputation diminished, but also satisfying, academic institutions have become so pitiful with their teenage politics
