This is one of those things that shows that Putin can be very patient and savvy when it comes to doing things to attain his ultimate goals.

For decades, it’s been debated whether or not the essentially complete totalitarian state of North korea, or the classic repressive surveillance states of Nazi germany, or the Soviet Union, could have arisen in a world of modern communication, where the insights of the entire planet are available with the click of a mouse, making it very hard to lock down the society without people realizing what was going on or knowing about political alternatives.

Putin’s showing is exactly how it’s done. From the article:

    >” (Russia is producing) homegrown tech (and tech companies) that can’t be yanked away by western rivals when Russia does something to displease them.”

That is exactly what Putin is telling his population, and illustrates how he leverages Russia’s pariah status: the West is out to get them, he’s once more their savior by rolling out an “equal alternative” (which he just happens to fully control), and then he’s got a captive audience to further the brainwashing.

With the exodus of dissident Russians, the loss of a generation of young men in the war, and these slowly-boil-the-frog steps, Putin’s going to ensure Russia is the next North Korea, and that he’ll make Stalin proud when he overtakes Stalin as Russia’s longest ruling dictator in 2028.

It was clearly a case of spontaneous combustion that got out of hand and took the whole plane down…

Yevgeny did have an explosive personality. Maybe this is why his plane went down.
