Hallo Leute, ich bin neu in Deutschland und liebe es wirklich, hier zu leben. Ich bin im Oktober letzten Jahres mit meiner Freundin in eine von uns gemietete Wohnung gezogen, wir zahlen sowohl die reguläre Miete als auch das Wasser. Wir wussten wirklich nicht, wie die Bezahlung für den Strom aussehen würde, und unser Vermieter sagte uns nur, wir sollten unseren Stromzähler bei der Gemeinde anmelden. Wir haben das getan, aber wir haben der Gemeinde immer noch nichts bezahlt, was uns wirklich verwirrt hat. Im April erhalten wir einen Brief von der Gemeinde, in dem wir aufgefordert werden, den gewünschten Tarif auszuwählen. Als wir die Preise sahen, waren wir schockiert und wollten den Anbieter wechseln. Auch unsere Nachbarn waren so freundlich, uns zu bitten, auf der Website check24 nach einem neuen Anbieter zu suchen. Wir haben das getan und den Gottesdienst der Gemeinde abgesagt. Heute habe ich von der Kommune eine extreme Endabrechnung bekommen, die Rechnung landete bei 1034,54 EUR. Für uns ist es extrem viel, wir verstehen nicht, wie es so viel sein kann. Wir haben auch noch keinen Router für WLAN, sodass nichts rund um die Uhr genutzt wird. Ist das in Deutschland normal? Wie kann es so hoch sein? Und kann ich etwas tun oder muss ich nur bezahlen? Danke für das Feedback, Jungs!!!🇩🇪

It is hard to tell, you used about double the electricity of the average household (2000kwh in a year is normal, you used that in 6 months), but that’s easily possible if you heat your water with electricity (basically 1000 kwh a year for 15 minutes of hot water a day, depending on your model even more).

I’m really surprised that you had electricity without paying for almost seven months! That’s highly unusual.
And while I sympathize with you for this sudden bill, It’s also a fact that you had 6 month to inquire where and how to pay for your electricity.
And yes, it looks a bit high to me. But not unreasonable high if electricity is used for hot water and/or heating.
Yes that’s pretty normal – you were in the Grundversorgung, which usually is more expensive, and – I assume you didn’t know – Germany has some of the highest electricity prices on the planet.
37ct/kwh is not even that high, I paid >50 when the war in Ukraine started for a time. (I’m back down to 31 right now).
And yes you will have to pay the full amount, this won’t be going away.
That’s on the high end of normal, and and why most people pay monthly. To avoid it being this much at once.
Are the kWh correct?
Did you take note of the meter value when you moved in and communicated that value correctly to the Trierer Stadtwerke?
2200 kWh sounds really a lot, that would be ~10kWh per day or a continuous electric power of more than 400W!
Only plausible reason I could think of is electric heating of the flat. Is that so?
Electric water heater is guess? Normal price if that’s the case.

In Germany average is 0.40, you can find 0.30 and in France, average price is 0.20€.
