The data used for this map comes from the [Henley Passport Index](https://www.henleyglobal.com/passport-index), which ranks 199 passport against 227 destinations (mostly countries and some territories).
Each passport is ranked by the number of destinations its holders can travel to without the need of a prior visa (-> no visa, visa on arrival or an electronic travel authority).

I find it odd how countries can be rich and successful and still have their passports weaker than some failed states.

Passport strength is such s dumb metric. Nobody in the US is losing any sleep over the fact that their passport can’t get them into Afghanistan.
