The „No kings“ protests are just a taste of what needs to happen if the American people want change. When have permitted non-disruptive protests changed anything?
The only way to extract change from the donor class is to hit them where it hurts.

„anti-Trump“? while I and millions of others worldwide certainly wish he’d never been born, no one really gives a shit about his depraved, worthless carcass. he’s no king of course, but he’s not what any of this is about.

Wall Street Republikans are just laughing at MAGA. As MAGA sees the economy tanking, inflation roaring and their healthcare stripped away by the millions!!
Economy tanking rapidly. August just 22,000 jobs created–absolutely pathetic.
Way, way lower than Biden.

Protest alone will not stop Trump and the fascist R’s move to establish police-military dictatorship in the US, but it is a good first step. What is really required is the mobilization of the entire American working class in political and industrial action, in strike action. Trump represents the interests of a financial oligarchy that has decided on dictatorship. Whether they know it yet or not, American workers are on a collision course with this oligarchy and its representatives (Trump and the R’s). Strike action now. Political general strike now.

From an outsider perspective (I am italian, not living anymore in the US), it is very hard to grasp how exactly this movement should revert, or even just halt the democracy-dismantling agenda of this administration.
I mean, ok it is important from a symbolic perspective, but you go there, march, chant, and…what?
The battle has to be fought on the political and judicial fields. And I don’t see meaningful troops there.

There are what seems like 500 or more people protesting on the main road near by house. I’m in a deep red county in FL.
On a side note, my Mom thinks Trump is doing a good job. She’s not a MAGA person, I just think she is getting her news from Fox or Tiktok where Trump seems to do no wrong.
I can’t articulate my thoughts very well, so is there a good video that isn’t too long that explains why Trump is bad for the country that I can share with her?

These no kings rallies is so performative. It has no clearly defined objectives or demands, it’s not a protest, it’s a best a rally that lasts for just a few handful of hours mostly in the morning and cause absolutely no disruption to the system at all, while also be rather inaccessible for the working class.
I’m all about having your voice heard and standing together and fighting racism and fascism, but these no kings movement is just a series of rallies so far that are upsettingly weak and performative publicity stunts, that I fear, may actually do more harm to the cause then good.

I’m sorry, I want to be optimistic and have hope but what exactly does this do? Do you really think he cares or any of them care that a bunch of people all got together and held up some pretty handmade signs, yelled some slogans and took up space? I mean they’ve won, they’re in power and doing whatever they want whenever they want regardless of what anyone says. Unless this protest turns French style or something I just don’t see why it even matters. I want to believe me but like it doesn’t feel any different than like when you see those videos of elected officials getting chewed out at their little town halls, they don’t care they smirk or smile and just don’t care.

„If, on the other hand, No Kings sees underwhelming turnout, it would strengthen Trump’s political hand. The same is true if there is significant disorder, which would turn off voters in the center ground and buttress Trump’s suggestion that radicals are the animating force behind the protests.“
