News snippet: Canadian foreign minister Anita Anand met with Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi in Beijing on Friday and discussed renewing and refocusing on shared objectives, Canada’s ministry said in a statement.

The leaders also discussed the environment, energy and health, the ministry said.

Ahead of the meeting, Wang Yi’s ministry said China is willing to work with Canada to restart dialog and exchanges at all levels and to promote the resolution of each nation’s legitimate concerns.

    2. I’m pleasantly surprised at what Carney and Anand have been pursuing with China and India. Considering we’re looking to expand our economic partners so as to not be held hostage to a certain nation, it makes sense we mend ties with these 2 large consumers. However, this shouldn’t come at the cost of diluting our sovereignty or security and I’m happy to see Anand reiterate on the safety of Canadians both in New Delhi and in Beijing.

Please talk them into removing the tariffs on Chinese EV’s. Imagine if we could all buy a car for C$15,000. That would leave tens of thousands in my budget to buy other things.

There will be plenty of future job openings in the resource sector. Time to transition these employees.
