Asteroid 2024 YR4 was previously estimated to have a 3.1% chance of hitting Earth in 2032. Now, Earth is forecast to be in the clear but the Moon might be at (unspecified) risk of getting impacted. If that happens, it’s no big deal – we’ll just be able to see a new crater on the Moon.

People saying that if it hits the moon, it’s no risk to Earth, all we get is meteors, forget all the satellites in orbit. Multiple satellites could be affected, and if some of them are hit bad enough to spread debris, that could start a very unfortunate change of events.
So no, no threat to humans on earth, unless some of those humans like to make long distance phone calls or watch HBO, etc

The asteroid was discovered by the ATLAS telescope in Chile. Its orbital parameters were refined by JWST.
