Sounds good in this pathetic environment. I’m all for fair voting, if both sides are held to it.

Is this a serious proposal or just something they could decide to do.

Cold day in hell if MN turns red so not sure why this map surprises anyone.

So it’s a threat to Democracy when Republicans do it, but it’s saving Democracy when Democrats do it?
I think we just found a new dictionary definition for hypocrisy.

Democrats gerrymander just as much as republicans. This has been going on since 1812.
Illinois and Maryland are gerrymandered just as much as any red state.

What happens in a good GOP year like 2010?
If you wanted to gerrymander MN you’re looking at 6-2 DFL or GOP if you don’t want to get wiped out.
Done327 on
Yeah no. Most of those districts are in reach and winnable for Republicans. That’s why, unless you get around 60% of the vote in a state, you want to pack a few districts full of the opposition to serve as a “heat sink.”
These districts rely on turnout never decreasing or fluctuating. For Minnesota, you could probably do 6-2 D-R, maybe even 7-1.

Trumplicans do it at a larger scale. Why not do it in blue states.

You have to go by registered voters rather than actual. I say this because as voters get convinced that democrats will win each election, they become less likely to vote („my vote doesn’t matter“). If there was a legit chance that a republican could win, more democratic voters would show up.

Now let’s see gerrymandered red state maps.

Jfc, when can we dismantle the electoral college?

People on both sides are always like „Yea lets do this“ but what they dont realize is a minor demographic shift and it goes from 8 blue to 8 red. Its kind of a high risk high reward strategy.

Gerrymandering is bad. It’s cheating. But the game isn’t fair if one side cheats and the other plays by the rules.

Holy Gerrymandering!

Opposite issue in Texas with Republicans. Basically it comes down to no representation when you are in a state that is gerrymandering votes opposite to how you vote. Our system doesn’t work well.
