Der Sejm der Republik Polen hat ein Gesetz verabschiedet, das ein absolutes Verbot der Zucht und Aufzucht von Pelztieren zum Zweck der Fellgewinnung vorsieht.

Thatβs a very good decision.
Is absolutely cruel

That’s nice. I have noticed a few animal protection laws adopted recently in Poland. This and the one that prohibits chaining the dogs.

So if they sell the meat for dog food or something and use the pelts as a by-product it’ll still be legally fine?

For those overly optimistic it has to go through the parliment and then president has to sign it.
Poland is second biggest fur producer in the world. The lobby is very strong here even if general public agrees that we should ban this out.

Polish right wingers are getting meltdowns over this. It’s great!
I hope President Nawrocki signs this legal act!

Another moment where I just feel deeply sorry for those animals and I’m so relieved I don’t wear fur/real leather, don’t eat animals, meat, fish etc. It just feels so so good for my conscience to not be part of that industry. But each to their own tho.

Our for production isnt just legal but actively subsidized.

Does it also include the import, sales and possession ban. Because otherwise, non-prohibitive countries like China, US, Russia, Greece and Spain will be happy to cover the deficite.
